Change of Name from Village Produce Association Soon

Sorry to have been “Off Air” with this site for a while.Think it was down to me making a wrong choice while “Updating the site”! My one grey cell did not operate correctly ! Many thanks to our “Webmaster” Tim Breeze for digging us out of the situation and getting us  “Back in Business again”!We are so grateful  for a gentleman whose occupation and living is designing Websites, that he found time to correct my mistake.

Llantilio Pertholey Village Produce Association will soon be “CHANGING IT’S NAME” and our “Website”.We are going to ,with Tim’s help attempt a different way of Advertising ourselves ! We have had discussions and feel that our Original “Dig for Victory Origins” after the Second World War  when we were formed is not understood and unfortunately not attracting new Members! Without whom we will eventually become extinct!


It seems that in the the year of the 75th Anniversary of “D-Day” that we ourselves make a new start also, not forgetting our “Roots”! Hopefully resulting in our current 50 Members increasing and coming to enjoy our Activities.These include our regular Monthly Speakers and meetings,covering all sorts of things ! A cup of tea and a biscuit during the evenings interval,Monthly Competitions and Raffle. Spending an enjoyable,affordable two hours from 7-9 pm at The Community Hall the Mardy. Please come along and Join us! This is on the third Monday of each month.An example is Monday 17th June when we have Jim Almond giving a presentation at 7:00pm, “Something for Everyone” ! Monthly Competitions that evening are:-  1/ Flower of the Month 2/ A Rose 3/ A Tennis Momento.

We have two Outings during the year also.We enjoyed in May an Outing to “Ralph Court Gardens and The Hop Pocket”.  On Thursday July the 4th we are off  for a Guided tour of “Bute Park” with the Centres Education Officer.We then embark onto “The Lady Elizabeth” Water Taxi for an informative ride down The Taff and across Cardiff Bay.Before alighting and going for a “Free and Easy Lunch”.Before our coach transports us home from the Bay.Non-Members are welcome ,please contact our Social Secretary,Hazel Watkins for availability:- 01873 855775 or Chairman Malcolm Brinkworth:- 01873 850115 or Secretary Maureen Braithwaite:- 01873 856067.

Saturday 20th July through the kindness of our Secretary and her husband,we are having in their lovely Garden , a “Celebratory Tea Party” from 2:30 to 5:30pm.

Monday 19th August at 7 pm we have” Creating a Cutting Patch” with Amy Mackenzie-Mason.On Saturday  7th September we hold our Members Annual Show ,Entrants aged 3-93, about 300 Classes of ALL SORTS! Open to the Public,Free of Charge at 2:00pm,Refreshments available!

Monday 16th September Alun and Jill Whitehead present “Wales from the Valleys to the Mountains and the Gardens in Between” !

Sunday 6th October,4:00pm St Teilo’s Church,Llantilio Pertholey we have a Joint Harvest Service with the Congregation, followed by Refreshments.Everyone Welcome  !

Wednesday 16th October at 6:00pm,Monmouthshire Golf Club,a Harvest Supper.

Saturday 19th October,Jumble Sale at The Community Hall,opens to the public 1:15 Free Entry,Raffle,Refreshments.

Monday November 18th Annual General Meeting and Monday 9th December we have Caterers in and enjoy at 1:00 pm our Christmas Lunch and Party,which finishes at 4:30pm.We shall be entertained by “Jabolique” as well as other things.
