Tea Party Celebrated 60 Years

Our Secretary Maureen and husband Gordon’s beautiful garden, which was looking magnificent, was the venue for a highly successful Tea Party last Saturday. Members provided a lovely spread of food. Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way. We finished off with Strawberries and Cream. The weather was kind and a good “Chinwag” was enjoyed amongst about 40 people.

We were fortunate to have Three of our Life Members present, Geoff Slater, Kathleen Thomas  and  President Marion Tucker. The fourth Life Member Brian Savegar was unable to attend. We also had at least one Original Member from 1956 our Vice President’s George Smith along with his wife Margaret enjoying the afternoon.

We would like to thank Maureen and Gordon for hosting us and the trouble they had gone to enhancing our welcome. Very many thanks for a most enjoyable afternoon. Wales Football team then  “Capped it off” by getting through their Euro tie against Northern Ireland, a memorable day all round !

Next Mondays meeting and forthcoming Tea Party

Unfortunately due to Health Issues one of our Life Members, Mr Brian Savegar has had to withdraw from the Panel for next Monday’s Gardeners Question Time. Brian was the Original Secretary when we formed in 1956 and is a “Font of Advice and Knowledge” and a great supporter. We hope he soon has the treatment needed leading too much improved health.

Saturday June 25th we are having a “Diamond Anniversary Tea Party” for Members. Everyone is hoping our weather is kind. We are also looking forward to our Outing to Aberaeron, Llanerchaeron House and Gardens on Thursday 7th July. Departing 9:00am from the Mardy ,SEATS ARE AVAILABLE for Non-Members, please contact the Social Secretary Hazel Watkins.

Enjoy your gardening and the many Open Garden events available to visit presently.
