Today “A Time to Remember”

Having attended a preview of  the flower festival “A Time to Remember” ,it is thoroughly recommended .The volunteers have made some thought provoking displays, many congratulations to all the various contributors and organisations . Our four ladies from the Village Produce Associations can be very proud of their efforts, Thank you all so much. Being held Today, Tomorrow and Monday at St Teilo’s Church, Llantilio Pertholey, The Mardy,Abergavenny,NP7 6NU.A small entry fee is charged, you will receive an explanatory programme and refreshments are available.

Don’t forget to also enjoy the many aspects and the wonderful display of Wooden crosses from around the world. “The Living Churchyard” that has been developed around the Church, is set in beautiful peaceful surroundings.

 


What beautiful gardens we enjoyed

At a well attended meeting last night,Keith Sweetzer took us on a wonderful journey .We enjoyed Aberglasney, Bodnant and Highgrove all from the comfort of our chairs .Within just over an hour,I cannot remember the journeys in between these heavenly places! Three different gardens in very varying locations.We were given historical facts and interesting information about all of them.

                         Our involvement in ” A Time to Remember”, St Teilo’s Church Flower Festival ,Llantilio Pertholey,Near Abergavenny,NP7 6NU was discussed.It is open to the public on Saturday 30th April 10-4,Sunday 1st May 1-5 and Monday 2nd May 10-4 refreshments will be available. 

We then went on and finalised our Fully Booked, Tenby outing on Monday 16th May. We also discussed the July 7th outing to Aberaeron and Llanerchaeron House. There will be seats available if anyone wishes to join us on this trip.Please contact the Social Secretary to book,full details will be available after our next Committee Meeting on May 9th.

We still have to complete arrangements for our Diamond Jubilee Tea Party,we will publish those details once they are available.

We gave out the “free plug plants” for the following Classes at our Members Diamond Jubilee Show on Saturday September 3rd.Children’s Classes, a Coleus provided by the VPA. Donated by Abergavenny Garden Centre to win their Children’s Challenge Cup,three Freesias to be grown in a pot. Our Adult Members have a Verbena to grow in a pot.The Challenge commences.

If you are able to get out and explore the countryside their are some excellent displays of Primroses,Bluebells,Wood Anenomes , Cowslips,Tulips, still some Daffodils and other flowers to enjoy.

Enjoy your gardening but watch out for the “Forecasted Cold Snap”,protect those plants and yourselves !
