Successful ” Tasty ” Annual General Meeting

We had a very good AGM last night and welcomed two new members Sheila and Peter Clarke.We would like to thank them for agreeing to join our Committee and hope they enjoy their membership.Thanks were given to retiring Vice President Donald Gordon and Margaret who have stepped down after many years.The Gordon name has had long associations with our VPA.

Also stepping down from the full Committee but transferring onto the Refreshment side from her post as Assistant Secretary is Liz Barnes who has been a valuable Committee member.Mrs Mary Jones has also retired from the Refreshment Committee after much sterling service.Geoff Slater after a lifetime of service on our Committee has retired, he and his late wife Betty have given fantastic dedication on our behalf.

We would like to thank Marie Giles a Committee Member already who has agreed to become Assistant Secretary.Also Sheila Clarke who has taken on the post of Assistant Treasurer to replace Geoff Slater.Members were given details of next years Speakers and Outings .In May we are going by Coach and will enjoy some of the scenic “Black & White” trail and then visit Westonbury Mill Water Gardens near beautiful Pembridge in Herefordshire.In July we shall be visiting The National Botanical Garden of Wales,Llanarthne,Carmarthenshire.Full details will be given next year.

During the evening a “Framed Collage of Pictures was presented” to our Show Secretary of 25 years and current President Marion Tucker.This had been put together by our very talented Secretary Maureen,thank you.We then presented a cake which had been decorated with a “Gardening theme” to Marion. She then preceeded to cut it and we all enjoyed the delicious tasting treat.Marion as normal making sure everyone else had their cake before she had any.Very many thanks for what you do for our Community at Llantilio Pertholey Marion.

After our business meeting members were treated to a Quiz very kindly done by our Secretary Maureen Braithwaite,relating to the fantastic flower and vegetable beds that were created around Abergavenny this year.They certainly enhanced our area ,many thanks to everyone involved in this imaginative project.

The Community Hall Management Committee have a Carol Concert featuring” Rhymney Male Voice Choir and Ysgol y Fenni ” at The Hall,  7:00pm Saturday 13th December.A mince pie and drink is included in the price of £5.Tickets are available now ,contact 01873 852176.

Our next event is the eagerly anticipated Christmas Lunch and Party,  1:00pm for 1:30pm,Monday December 15th at The Community Hall.We are looking forward to enjoying the excellent food provided by “Sisters Catering”  ! At 3:00pm John Sheen is going to entertain us with “A Christmas Tale” followed by Carols and Father Christmas BUT only if you are good Members !!
